I am trying to change the default menu option for a DVD I created in iDVD but after I get it loaded into myDVDEdit I try to preview it in DVD Player and VLC (before making any changes) but I get different default menu option between the 2 of them. In DVD Player it selects the 8th menu choice in the video. In VLC it selects the 7th menu choice in the video.

Any ideas why DVD Player and VLC would have different results if nothing was changed in the dvd configuration?

Apple has a license from the DVD organization, you can suppose Apple respect all the DVD specifications. It's not the case of VLC. VLC is open source and many DVD specifications are not respected. You found one of them, I found much more.

So in this case I should be using DVD Player to get accurate results?

I am trying to change the default menu option to be the first one in the list and I can't seem to get it to work.

Code:
Nop
Nop
Nop
Nop
Nop
R6 = $F805
R0 = R4
R0 &= 63
if(R0 != 0) Goto 11
R0 = 9
R0 &= 63
R0 *= $0400
Nop
R3 = 1
highlightedButton = R0
R1 = 0
R4 &= $8000
if(R4 == $8000) Link Cell 2

From another post I was reading I thought I just needed to change where it says R0 = 9 to be the correct number of the button I want but it doesn't seem to change anything when I do a preview.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, use DVD Player but DVD Player has bugs, too.

R0 is set to 9 only if R4 equal 0, so, yes you can change this value and this must works if R4 is really equal to 0.

Did you try the debug mode in myDVDEdit ?
For button 8, the register must be set to $2000
